County Board Urges Springfield to Restore Funding for Addiction Treatment Programs |
|
Serenity House in Addison
and other programs that treat people with substance-abuse problems may
have to cut services as a result of state budget cuts.
Serenity House in Addison has been treating people with
substance-abuse problems for more than 20 years. Now the program and
others like it may have to cut services because of a slash in state
funding.
As part of his attempt to close a $2 billion shortfall in the budget
approved this year by the Illinois General Assembly, Gov. Rod
Blagojevich cut $55 million in funding for the Illinois Division of
Substance Abuse. The cuts also jeopardize an additional $55 million in
matching federal funds.

Obama on Human Rights – "That's above my pay grade" |
|
When asked "At what point does a baby get human rights in your view?" Obama said that the question is “above my pay grade”.
Watch the video here...
First, the entire issue of abortion involves determining when a baby
becomes a person. If Obama thinks this is above his pay grade, then he
probably shouldn’t be running for political office. If a baby is a
person at conception, then abortion is murder. If Obama doesn’t believe
that abortion is murder, then he can’t believe in the personhood, the
humanity, of an embryo or fetus — not unless he’s some kind of monster.
As President — even as Senator — Obama is expected to have an answer for this. Quite literally, there is no higher pay grade in the US government, and abortion is one of the
issues he has to face. If he can’t face it, then he should go back to
community organization and leave politics for people who can. John
McCain had no trouble answering the same question. Obama dodged it —
and for good reason: his answer would have exposed his radical views.
Hot Air
When does a human deserve human rights? Pastor Rick Warren asked the
candidates at the Saddleback Church's presidential candidate forum
Saturday night.
"At conception," John McCain replied, without hesitation.
Barack Obama's response was starkly different. He hemmed and hawed
and then muttered, "That answer's above my pay grade." In other words,
"Gee, that question's just toooo hard."
