Darlene Ruscitti was elected Chairman of the DuPage County Republican Party

Darlene Ruscitti was elected Chairman of the DuPage County Republican Party at the biennial county convention, held April 19, 2012 in Wheaton.  300 Republican committeemen elected Ruscitti chair and rose to give her a standing ovation.  In her acceptance speech, Ruscitti said, “Thank you for electing me as the chairman of the DuPage County Central Committee. It is truly an honor and your support is very humbling. I look forward to working with such a dedicated and committed group of individuals.” In a historic first, Ruscitti becomes the first woman to hold this office.

The new GOP chairman went on to point out the challenges she had faced running for a different elected office.  Ruscitti has been elected three times to the office of Regional Superintendent of Schools. She also acknowledged challenges that everyone in the room has faced and the challenges that come with leading an active political life.  As she assumed the role of Republic Party Chair in DuPage County, she outlined her vision and acknowledged more challenges for the upcoming election season.
 “My goal is to get all of our Republican candidates elected,” Ruscitti told the Daily Herald. “The key to the party's success is the township organizations working together. She is looking forward to re-energizing the party's platform.  “I think I bring some different skills to the table,” said Ruscitti, who also serves as chairwoman of the Illinois Victory Program, the state GOP's voter-identification and get-out-the-vote campaign. Right now, I believe “I'm the right person for the job,” she said. People know what I have accomplished as “party chairman in Bloomingdale Township.  And they know what I'm capable of doing.” reported Robert Sanchez, Daily Herald.   
Ruscitti challenged fellow GOP faithful at the convention in her acceptance speech, “We must rededicate ourselves to wanting more, doing more, and being more,” reminding Republican leaders of what is at stake in upcoming November elections, the good slate of Republican candidates and the efforts that would be required to get them elected.
