Republican Day made a triumphant return to St. Andrew’s Golf Club on August 25, 2011 with "Tee It Up Fore Republicans", as hundreds of DuPage County Republicans gathered together to enjoy each other’s company and kick off the 2012 campaign cycle. The event, organized by prominent DuPage Republican Women leaders and hosted by the DuPage County Republican Central Committee, was a great financial success, thanks to the dozens of generous sponsors, over one hundred golfers, and several hundred dinner-goers whose contributions will go towards funding the DuPage GOP’s efforts to get out the vote and support local candidates in 2012.
County Party Chairman Randy Ramey fired up the assembled crowd with an energetic call for a reinvigorated and active Republican presence in DuPage County. “The party headquarters at 224 S. Washington in Wheaton is open and operational, and it will serve as a hub and resource for campaign efforts throughout the county. Let’s build on the momentum of this very successful event and work together towards our common goal of electing good Republican candidates” the Chairman said.
Not only was the day a success from a fundraising and party-building standpoint, but it was also a fun and relaxing occasion, thanks in no small part to the beautiful weather and hospitality of the St. Andrew’s staff. The assembled guests enjoyed a barbeque buffet and were treated to a performance by the three-man, thirty-instrument New Odyssey band. The guests also had the opportunity to hear from a line-up of high profile speakers including Illinois Republican Party Chairman Pat Brady, Congresswoman Judy Biggert, Illinois Senate Minority Leader Christine Radogno, and Illinois Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka.
One golfer in particular, Rob Moskal of Elmhurst, found Republican Day to be worthwhile to attend. Rob shot a Hole in One on the grand prize hole winning $10,000! The Hole in One contest was generously sponsored by Elmhurst-Chicago Stone.
The success of Republican Day was due in large part to the efforts of a committee of DuPage Republican women leaders. This committee, made up of Lori Carlson, Gwen Henry, Liz Martinez, Pam Moretti, Barbara Murphy, Joan Nortell, Rachel Ossyra, Nancy Philip, and Darlene Ruscitti, organized, planned, and executed this extensive event. “On behalf of the entire DuPage Republican Party, I’d like to thank the Republican women who put on this great event,” Chairman Ramey said. “Their dedication and hard work were responsible for the resounding success of Republican Day 2011.” A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Family Shelter Services.
